Algonquin Township Clerk

The Township Clerk is vested with many duties and responsibilities throughout the year.

    • The Township Clerk is the keeper of all township records except for active General Assistance cases. The Clerk is required to keep accurate records of all Township Board meetings and maintain records of the Board’s Executive (closed) Sessions.
    • During Township Board meetings the Clerk records roll call votes. (Certain questions require roll call votes, such as appointments to fill vacancies, establishing salaries, etc. Other votes can be taken by voice. Secret ballots are never permitted on any issue facing the Township Board.)
    • The Clerk also serves as the local election authority and is responsible for accepting petitions concerning township elections and/or referendums. In this capacity, the Clerk is responsible for publishing or posting certain specific notices, including notices for the Road Commissioner.
    • As Ex-officio Clerk of the Road District, the Township Clerk must witness bid openings for both the township and the Road District. The Clerk must countersign all Road District orders for payment prior to audit or approval by the township Board. The Clerk also delivers all approved claims for payment to the Supervisor.
    • The position of Clerk is especially important as it pertains to the maintenance of records. The integrity and accuracy of the Clerk is important in any court action involving the township’s official records.

  • Monthly Meeting – February 11, 2026

New Business:

  • Discuss/Approve a Transfer of Appropriation in Town Fund of $1,000.00 from 5002.001-Salaries- Caseworker to 5000.001-Salaries-Admin. by Supervisor Tado.

Audit of bills and Treasurer’s report:

  • Town Fund
  • Road & Bridge Fund
  • Equipment & Building Fund

Elected Officials Report. Elected Officials are welcome to address the Board for 5 minutes.

Assessor’s Report:
The office will be rolling the books to 2026 now that the appeal season is completed. The new senior freeze form will be released soon, and the renewal is scheduled to be mailed out on March 9. For the 2026 assessment year, the senior freeze exemption threshold was increased from $65,000 gross income to $75,000 gross income. As more residents become eligible for the 2026 assessment year, there will be a lot of foot traffic in the building.

Employee Appreciation:
This month is Bonnie Cone’s birthday. After working in real estate for 14 years, she relocated to the township 19 years ago and is a vital part of our team. Please wish her a happy birthday if you happen to see her.

New Business:

  • Adopt Annual Town Meeting Agenda and Public Notice for April 14, 2026, by Supervisor Tado.
  • Discuss/Approve Records Disposal Quote by Clerk Medendorp.
  •  Discuss/Approve the Attendance of the Attorney at Monthly Meetings by Trustee Decker.
  • Adopt the Revised Monthly Board Meeting Schedule for Fiscal Year 2026-2027 to reflect the correct meeting date for the Annual Town Meeting by Trustee Decker.
  • To Discuss and Adopt a Policy Regarding Alcohol on Algonquin Township Property by Trustee Decker.
  • To Discuss and Approve if the Board Views IMRF as a Benefit.
  • To Discuss & Approve the Amended IMRF Resolution.

Any other business to come before the Board.
